Tacheles, the soul of art…

The Kunsthaus Tacheles (Art House Tacheles), is an art center in Berlin, a large (9000 square meter) building in the district known as Mitte. Huge, colorful graffiti-style murals are painted on the exterior walls, and modern art sculptures are featured inside. The building houses an artists collective which is threatened with eviction.

Originally called “Friedrichsstadtpassagen”, it was built as a department store in the Jewish quarter of Berlin, next to the Synagoge. Serving as a Nazi prison for a short while, it was later partially demolished. After the Berlin Wall had come down, it was taken over by artists, who called it Tacheles, meaning “straight talking.”The building contained ateliers and workshops, a nightclub, and a cinema. When I finally visited this attraction, which was one of the main reasons I went to Berlin. It’s a mixture of modern, street, urban inspiration, the way different artists with totally unique style’s clash together in a colorful run down building, it was heaven on earth for me, i could literally have spent days there. I love the way they fight for a purpose together, and don’t forbid any uprising artist to exhibit their idea’s, you’ve just gotta find a spot and lay out your work. It’s a strong fight for their right to keep their building, and it would be ridiculous to tear them down! One of the main places of inspiration and artistic jitter on the world for me!

A poster that is now on my window sill , bought in Tacheles to help with funds!

Ballet, life’s caviar…

I got to the faze of a Prime Ballerina when I was much younger, unfortunately I was living in Singapore at the time and my parents didn’t want me to get too serious with ballet, due to the fact how much sacrifices you must make as a girl. I agree with them now of course, but there has always been a special place in my heart for the ballet. From the music to the dance itself, it brings me to another dimension… Swan Lake, the revolutionary ballet has a huge role in my childhood, I was obsessed with it as a little girl because of my Russian piano teacher :) I find a lot of inspiration in the femininity and elegance of ballet, in my paintings and a lot of my work, also my personal style. Here I give a tribute to the profound essence of this wonder in our world, I would call ballet the world’s caviar….!

And now some words about one of my favorite painters, who superbly illustrated the inspiration I also have on dancing and the special movement of ballet. One of the greatest painters of all time, his paintings have a place in my heart and on my screen savers :)

Edgar Degas 1834–1917, was a French artist famous for his work in painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing. He preferred to be called a realist than a impressionist. A superb draftsman, he is mostly identified with the subject of dance, and over half of his work is illustrating dancers. These display his mastery in the depiction of movement, as do his race subjects and female nude bodies.

While in this ballet classic note I’m in today, it can’t go without a remarkable song that is found within all my house and rock tunes in my phone, the wonderful and classic Swan Lake…

And now, I have no words how much this sort of work can lighten my day! My colliege from my office took this wonderful picture from the front of our University which is luckily situated next to the river!

And now, I’m of to some creative alone time, with all these wonderful images I have to do do another ballet inspired painting myself:) I’ll show you my work as soon as it’s done! :) Ah, this is life:)!

easy project’s…

I’ll be talking about a lot of fun and creative projects you can all do, or will inspire you to do some cool things yourself and get your hands dirty. During my first 3 years of studying design, I was majoring in design of printed materials which is based on a lot of hand made art projects, later used and enhansed with computer software. Now I mainly do web design and 3d compositing so I really miss just simply doing some good old art and painting, I say again “getting my hands dirty”.

This was a project a few years back where the theme was “what will I be when I grow up”. I made a vest of drawers where each drawer would represent a different think. I also wanted it to be useful later, so it became a part of my home décor.

I will be more in touch with nature….

This is a Zen garden :) ….

I will find the needle in haystack :)

It’s always much more thoughtfull to give a loved one a present from the heart, spmthing you thought through and you made an effort. Even if your not a great painter you can always do something simple and funny like that cow painting you saw me do in the February album. Or these kind of creative art books, which your read in different ways…
