Outdoing themselves once again…

On Tuesday night in the Scotish castle Linlinthgow Palace, the former residency of Stuart dynasty the autumn winter collection was presented by none the less, Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld presented their new models, and recently Chanel bought a Cashmere warehouse Barrie Knitwear in Scotland that produces kackets for over 25 years.  “The Scottish inspiration is my dedication to Coco Chanel and Mary Stuart, the 2 women that created fashion trends. ” stated Karl . ” You can describe the collection as a combination of fashion from the 16th and 17th century, and the direction of a casual style today”.

Did you know…?

Because of the fact that I am enrolling in an another university course in fashion design, while doing my Doctor studies in New Media Design, I’m discovering a huge amount of fun facts to do with fashion, it’s history, it’s definitions, and what trends really are.

Did you know for instance the reason LouBoutin shoes have those famous red souls on their shoes? Well, in the 17th century, the leaders in European fashion, the French of course, had a rule. It stated that shoes in the kings court (for instance the Versaille castle) wore white satin shoes (they never left their glamorous castles) had by rule, red souls on their bottom!Speaking of, have a look at their wonderful Christmas tree!

A new world record has been stated, Hong Kong produced by far the longest run way in the world! Over running Copenhagen with it’s runway of 1.6 km, this one is 3.2 km long! Overseeing the free way and the ocean side, over 160 models strutted along this magnificent runway in Danish Designer clothes!

Did you know that denim has it’s origins in the late 17th century, from French serge de Nîmes, denoting a kind of serge from the manufacturing town of Nîmes? I am now truly convinced why the french culture truly leads the world, and always has in fashion and glamour!

Did you know that the style of low-hanging baggy pants, worn by Hip-Hop devotees, originated in the prisons of Los Angeles, in which inmates were not allowed to wear… guess what… belts!

Stay tune for more…:)

A great read…

I’m trying to get my hands on this pile of papers, but thank god I found this book on line and  read it in a day! Can you imagine what a great read it is? It’s a great combo of the high class feel of Paris and the hip movement of New York. The writer is the guest of first row fashion shows, VIP parties, he mixes with artists, designers, from the bottom to the top of the A-listers, attends protests and acts with Marina Abramovic. It’s a poke to our today culture in a hilarious way.

my skin…

Comfortable in this, as in my own skin:) Top Shop leather leggings, Zara trench, Zara hoodie.
